The Joe Strauss and Gary Paulson Stories
Joe Strauss was a MV football player that died during practice in the mid 1980's. Joe had a medical condition that did not allow him to play football. He grew up watching his brothers play and dreamed of himself playing. The family got medical clearance for him to play his senior season only to have him die on the field. The award goes to the Most Dedicated player. Gary Paulson was a coach at MV from 1988 until 1998 . He did not really have a family to speak of so he put all his time and energy into MV Football and the players. The students loved Gary, he was always their favorite teacher at Chippewa. He put most of his efforts into the MV wide receivers and passing game. So that award is given to the best receiver.
